30 day blog challenge

 

Today is the start of a new 30 day blog challenge.    How does a blog challenge work?  Each day you write a blog post, then take that post and paste the link to the blog challenge Facebook page where you then will comment on at least the 2 blog posts above your link and 2 others will comment on your post.  I was fortunate enough to be a part of the January challenge and it was a wonderful experience.

 

When I was given the opportunity to be a part of this challenge in January I had just decided to focus this blog on coaching women 45 + for health, wellness and weight loss.  I have been working in this field for over 10 years however I was looking to change up my business and I felt that using a blog with my name rather than a company was a great new opportunity for me.

You see although I have been a personal trainer, nutrition coach, holistic lifestyle coach for over 10 years I have also been the live in  caregiver for my ailing mother for that past 8 years.  My mother has Parkinson’s Disease and taking care of her with this disease has definitely taken it toll on me.  If anyone had of told me when I moved in with my mother that I would burn out 5 1/2 years later and she would have to move into a  LTC home because we were in crisis I certainly would not have believed them.

There are many things about Parkinson’s I don’t know about.  Or more clearly I do know about however I never realized they were Parkinson’s specific.   Even though my mother has been in a home for almost 3 years I am still the caregiver, still struggling with all the craziness of this disease.  In fact after all these years of struggling the other day for the first time a nurse in my mother’s home told me she didn’t know how I have taken care of her?  I will be forever grateful for those words.  It has been the first time in over 8 years I have actually heard how difficult it is to take care a Parkinson’s person.

Now you may be wondering why I started out about a new 30 day blog challenge, then went into caregiver burnout from caring for my ailing mother with Parkinson’s!  Here is the simple why.  This is my purpose for coaching women 45+ for health, wellness and weight loss.

I have watched my mother’s health deteriorate slowly, painfully, for over 15 years.  In fact my mother is the reason I do this work.  I never wanted to end up like her struggling to walk, get out of a chair or off the toilet.  I knew the only way to change that was to eat better food, exercise more effectively, think in new ways, drink more water less soda pop, get more sleep, learn how to breath and practice each and every day.

So for this 30 day blog challenge my focus will be on some of the new things I have learned in the last year that have been life changing for my better health, my very easy 25 lb. weight loss, increased energy and just an overall feeling of wellness.

    I am looking forward to seeing what you post about in the next 30 days. Health is super important and eating right is the key to having a healthy lifestyle. I only drink water with all meals now and I incorporated a green smoothie into my diet. I have felt so much better such I made these changes at the beginning of the year.
