Gluten Sensitivity and Magnesium Deficiency

In yesterday’s blog post I wrote about Magnesium Deficiency.  Today it is my intention to take that a step farther to share information on Gluten Sensitivity and Magnesium Deficiency.

In this video Dr Peter Osborne explains Magnesium Deficiency.  What I like about Dr. Osborne is the way he explains complex things in a very simple, easy to understand way.  His knowledge, way of teaching allows us the viewer to learn how we can be magnesium deficient and what can be contributing factors to the problem.

In this video you will learn what induces the loss of Magnesium –

  • Chronic Low Grade Stress,
  • Diruretics – caffiene, alcohol, blood pressure meds,
  • Diet – high intake of refined carbohydrates (breads, pasta, cookies, cakes, crackers, really all the highly refined, very little nutrtional value processed foods)

You will also learn what can happen when magnesium deficiency shows up –

  • Depression – at minute 3:00 he discusses depression
  • Vaso Constriction – at minute 4:25 – you may be surprised when you listen here
  • Loss of bone – at 5:28 Dr. Osbornes discusses bone loss

And finally he explains what you need to do if you are living in chronic low grade stress, using caffiene, alcohol and blood pressure meds as well as if you are eating a diet that is high in processed carbohydrates.

Lack of this mineral is extremely common in those with food intolerance issues, and often times the symptoms mimic other diseases.”

    Your post and the video were helpful and informative. I was diagnosed with celiac disease last summer and want to avoid further bone loss and in the past month or so starting wondering if I need to increase my magnesium supplementation (my dietician said yes). It’s great to have this additional information. Thank you!
