Good Gluten Free Bread Substitutes

One of the most difficult things to say goodbye to when you have gluten intolerance is bread. There are many good gluten free bread substitutes that can make it an easier transition.  You don’t have to feel deprived and you can still enjoy some bread products.

Good Gluten Free Bread Substitutes

There are several really good gluten free bread products on the market.  For example, you can purchase bread made from rice flour and potatoes.  These breads are delicious and make a great substitute for traditional wheat breads.

If you enjoy making your own bread, I would caution you on the premade mixes that contain the dry ingredients for your bread and highly suggest you look for gluten free bread recipes you can make on your own.  So many people are making the transition to a gluten-free lifestyle that you’re bound to find what you need.  Here is a LINK for a good gluten free bread substitute that we use, gluten free pumpkin bread.  With this recipe you can switch out the pumpkin for banana, applesauce for a couple of examples!

For your hamburgers you can use large mushrooms BBQ’d, so very tasty!

While it may take some time to get used to these substitutes, you’ll find that they are tasty and allow you to have some of your favorite foods.  If your local supermarket doesn’t carry them, you should try a natural or health foods store.

You can also order many good gluten free bread substitutes online.  Many manufacturers are more than happy to mail the bread right to your home.  Because the demand for gluten-free products is growing, there are new ones on the market all the time.

There are also substitutes you can make on your own.  For example, many people use large lettuce leaves as an alternative to tortillas for making lettuce wraps.  You can also use lettuce leaves as a substitute for hamburger or hot dog buns.

Lettuce will give you a way to hold your hamburger and condiments as well as add a delicious taste and crunch to your meal.  But lettuce leaves aren’t the only substitutes you can use for bread on your favorite sandwich.

You can also use cucumbers as a bread substitute.  Slice a cucumber in half and then scoop out the seeds.  Add your favorite sandwich toppings to one half and top it with the other half.  You’ll enjoy a refreshing sandwich that’s gluten-free and very healthy.

Cauliflower is also a really good gluten free bread substitute when you have a craving for pizza, or tortillas!  It is very simple to make and really tastes great.

I always prefer to make my own bread, whenever I have the time and opportunity. That way, I know exactly what is going into it and can adjust the bread to my own liking. With so many problems in the food industry, we can never be too careful.

Thanks for connecting Eduardo! You are so very correct when you say we can never be too careful! Eating real food, prepared in your own kitchen is a very good place to start. 🙂

This is so strange, I keep seeing more and more blog posts and articles online about gluten free intolerance, whereas just 10 years ago this was almost unheard of. Something must be causing this weird new allergy and I hope some scientific study will find out eventually.
In the meantime I guess those who suffer from it will have some fun alternatives to consume.

Gluten is in everything, food, cosmetics, personal care products, glue on stamps/envelopes and so much more and here is what Dr. Tom O’Bryan says about Gluten – “No human can digest Gluten” Dr. Mark Hyman tests each patient that comes in to his office for Celiac Disease. I don’t think it is a weird new allergy, I feel there is the realization the health problems gluten is causing. Thanks for connecting.

Recently the partner and I changed to eating more cauliflower in place of potatoes and I really like the taste, though I never considered using them for pizza. 🙂 What an idea! Got a recipe to share, Wendy?
