Oh No I Am So Stressed Out Today!

This morning I had planned to do a blog post on the huge benefits of eating organic food however I am so stressed out this morning.  You see I am the primary caregiver to my ailing mother.  I lived with my  mother for 6 1/2 years caring for her and then in July of 2010 I became very ill.   It was at that time she had to move into a Long Term Care home as I was unable to care for her at home any longer.  Over the past 2 1/2 years my mother just keeps getting weaker and more frail.

It is an area of my life that makes me very sad to see my mother in this way.  She just called me and was not doing well at all this morning.  When I get these calls  it stresses me out.

This is when all my training comes into practice.  As Ii write this post I am practising breathing.  Breathe in for the count of 6, hold for the count of 6 and release for a count of 6.  A very calming practice by the way.

My mother’s health has been not great for many years.  And because of that I really began my journey to getting healthy due to my mother’s poor health way back in 1999.  That was when she broke her hip.  Which for a healthy person in their late 60’s  shouldn’t have been a problem.  Yet it took her over 6 months in a rehab home to be strong enough to go on with her life at home.

It was at this time I realised if I didn’t take control of my life, begin to make massive changes to what I ate, how I exercised, my weight, and most importantly my thinking I would be my mother in the future.  Living with poor health, way too much weight, making really poor food choices, not exercising and my health would not be good .  That was my big WHY!  And it still is.

It has been an amazing journey with lots of change, transformation and growth.  It has been over 15 years of studying, practising and learning about health, wellness, fitness.  Courses, reading, lectures, workshops, many diplomas, certifications and most importantly putting it all into action.

So being stressed out in today’s world will happen.  It doesn’t mean that you have to stay there!  Learning and practising techniques to calm the mind and body will bring you back to a more balanced way of feeling very quickly.

Being kind in those stressed out moments are so very important as well.

Maybe like me this morning you can take a different course to relieve the stress in that moment.  Have a cup of tea.  Go for a walk.  Find a good friend and have a chat about how your are feeling.  These are some of the ways to move out of the stressed out feelings and move into a more balanced state of being.

Today I am thankful, I am breathing, and will be heading out for a walk in nature to centre myself.

What do you do when you are stressed out?

I breathe too, when stressed. And often go for a soak and a read in the bath.
My parents were the primary carer for my Nan, with us daughters helping out too – we all worked full time so sharing the caring helped. It was still stressful, even after we could no longer care for Nan at home.
Wishing you the best – keep breathing 🙂

I can really relate to how you felt today finding out your mom is having a rough day. My dad is 84 now and has his good and bad days which can definitely affect me.
When I am stressed, I try to change my environment for a bit to see if that will help. I also eat some dark chocolate, call a close friend or take my golden retriever for a walk.
